Back in 2013, the president of the New York Knicks was none other than Steve Mills. Now, you might not remember that name too well if you don’t follow basketball, but that’s who was at the helm of the Knicks during that time. Steve Mills had a good run with the team, holdin’ that title from 2003 to 2008, and then again in 2013 after a bit of a break. Now, don’t go confusing him with others like Leon Rose, who took the position later on.

Who Was the President of the New York Knicks in 2013?

So, Steve Mills, he was the one runnin’ things back in 2013, right when the Knicks were tryin’ to put themselves back together after a few rough seasons. It wasn’t an easy job, lemme tell ya. With all those trades, draft picks, and the big spotlight of New York City, the pressure was on him. But that year, they didn’t do too bad either. They had a strong regular season and made it to the playoffs. But like all good things, sometimes they come to an end, and that year, the Knicks fell short of the Eastern Conference Finals.

One of the big names involved in the Knicks back then was Mike Woodson. He was the head coach at the time, and together with Mills, they were workin’ to rebuild the team. Mills, he was doin’ all the behind-the-scenes work, makin’ decisions that would hopefully bring some success to the team. He tried to keep the Knicks competitive, but, well, not everything works out as planned in the world of basketball.

Now, you might be wonderin’, who exactly is Steve Mills? Well, before he was the president of the Knicks, Mills had quite a bit of experience in the basketball world. He’d been with the Knicks organization for years, first as an assistant general manager, then as the general manager itself. So, when the time came in 2013 for the Knicks to have a new president, they didn’t have to look far—Mills was right there, ready to take over again.

But of course, Mills wasn’t the only one makin’ decisions. There were other folks in the mix, like Scott Perry, who was the general manager at the time. Perry played a big role in gettin’ the team to where it was. Together with Mills, they worked on building the roster, tryin’ to balance the old and the new players. Of course, they had their star player in Carmelo Anthony, but there were also a bunch of other younger guys comin’ in, tryin’ to make their mark.

Now, 2013 wasn’t the year that the Knicks turned everything around, but it was a year that showed some promise. The team finished with a 54-28 record, which was pretty impressive. They even won the Atlantic Division title for the first time in a long while, and the fans got a taste of what might be to come. Still, after that season, the Knicks couldn’t quite make it past the second round of the playoffs. But hey, that’s basketball for you—sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Who Was the President of the New York Knicks in 2013?

And just to be clear, after Mills was done in 2013, things switched up again, and in came Leon Rose, who took over in 2020. But in 2013, it was still Mills who was runnin’ the show. It was his job to manage the team’s direction, make those trades, and try to get the Knicks back to their glory days. But as we all know, the road to success in the NBA is a long one, and it ain’t always smooth.

So, to wrap it up, if you’re wonderin’ who was the president of the Knicks in 2013, it was Steve Mills. He was the man in charge back then, tryin’ to make the Knicks a contender again. It wasn’t easy, and they didn’t make it all the way, but he gave it his best shot.
