Now, y’all wanna know about Jayson Tatum’s mama, huh? Well, I reckon I can tell ya a thing or two ‘bout her. Jayson Tatum, that feller playin’ basketball for them Boston Celtics, he sure made his mama proud. Her name’s Brandy Cole-Barnes, and she’s been through a whole lot raisin’ her boy. Ain’t no easy task raisin’ a young’un, especially on your own, but Brandy did it, and she did it real good.
Brandy, she grew up in St. Louis and had to face some tough times. Life wasn’t no picnic for her, but she stayed strong, workin’ hard to make sure Jayson had what he needed. She always made sure Jayson had what he needed, even if it meant sacrificin’ her own wants. That’s what mama’s do, ain’t it? Brandy told folks in interviews how she worked extra hard to get Jayson the things he needed to follow his dreams of playin’ basketball. And I reckon it paid off, seein’ where Jayson is now. He’s one of the top players in the NBA, representin’ the Celtics and makin’ mama proud.
Brandy ain’t one to talk much ‘bout her struggles, but you can tell by how Jayson speaks ‘bout her that they got a bond like no other. He loves his mama, that’s clear as day. When the Celtics won a big game against the Indiana Pacers back in May 2024, Jayson went straight to Brandy and wrapped her up in a big ol’ hug right in front of them cameras. Now, that right there was a moment folks won’t forget. It shows you just how close they are and how much love they got for each other.
Now, I know y’all also heard about Jayson’s little boy, Deuce. Yep, he’s the one that’s gonna carry on the Tatum name. Jayson had Deuce with his high school sweetheart, Toriah Lachell Mimms. They’ve got joint custody of the boy, and even though they ain’t together no more, they work real hard to co-parent and make sure Deuce gets the love and care he deserves. Deuce was born back in December 2017, and you can tell Jayson loves bein’ a daddy just as much as he loves bein’ a basketball star.
Brandy, she don’t just share stories ‘bout raisin’ Jayson; she also gives advice to other parents. She’s been there, done that, and she knows what it takes to raise a child right. She told folks on an interview with “TODAY” that it ain’t always easy, but the love you give your young’un is what makes ‘em grow up strong. She said she’d always tell other parents to stay patient and to support their kids, no matter what. I reckon that’s some good advice, don’t ya think?
