First, I grabbed a notebook and pen – gotta keep it old school, right? – and started a rewatch from season one. My plan was simple: every time Rory made a significant blunder, I’d jot it down.
My Super Scientific Method (LOL)
- Defined “Choke”: I decided a “choke” wasn’t just a small mistake. It had to be something with real consequences, something that impacted her life or someone else’s in a noticeable way.
- Rewatched: I settled in for a serious binge-watching session. Popcorn was involved.
- Tallied: Every “choke,” I made a mark in my notebook. I even added a little note about the context, ’cause, you know, details matter.
It was actually tougher than I thought! Sometimes it was clear – like, that was definitely a bad decision, Rory. Other times, it was more of a gray area. Did that really count? I ended up having a few internal debates with myself.
For example, there is the time she misses her mom’s graduation!
And, I kept going, season after season. I lost track of how many times I refilled my coffee mug. My hand started to cramp from writing. But I was determined!
Finally, I finished! I looked at my notebook, filled with tally marks and scribbled notes. It was a mess, but it was my mess, and it represented hours of dedicated Gilmore Girls analysis. And I will continue to add to the list as I do rewatches in the future.
