Alright, let’s talk about getting Yinlin in Wuthering Waves. I’d been keeping an eye on things since the game launched, seeing what characters were coming up.

Waiting Game
When they first showed off Yinlin, her design and animations definitely caught my eye. Looked cool, the whole Electro puppet master thing. Saw some gameplay clips floating around, seemed pretty flashy. So, I figured, yeah, I’ll probably try to get her when she comes out. You know how it is, you see a character you like, you start planning a bit.
So I started saving up my Astrites. Didn’t pull on the banner before hers much, just did the daily stuff, explored the map, cleared challenges, anything that gave those precious resources. It’s always a bit of a grind, but you gotta do it if you want a specific character without spending real money, right?
Pulling Day
Finally, the day her banner dropped arrived. Logged in, saw the new banner announcement. Okay, here we go. Went straight to the Convene screen. Had a decent stash saved up, felt kinda hopeful but also kinda nervous. You never know with these gacha systems.
Started doing pulls. Ten pull after ten pull. Got a few 4-stars, some weapons, the usual stuff. The animation would start, you see that gold light, you get hyped… and then it’s a character I already have, or the standard banner 5-star. Yeah, lost the 50/50 first. Bit of a bummer, gotta admit. Wiped out a good chunk of my savings right there.
Had to basically scrape together more pulls. Went back to exploring, finishing quests I’d left behind, squeezing out every last Astrite. Took a few more days of playing than I initially expected.

Did some single pulls this time, felt like dragging out the suspense, haha. And then, finally, there she was. The animation played, and it was Yinlin. Phew, relief! Took more effort than I thought, but got her in the end.
First Impressions and Building
First thing I did was take her for a spin. Ran around the world, fought some basic enemies. Her attacks felt smooth, linking her skills and puppet felt quite unique compared to others I’d played. Definitely an active playstyle, keeping track of her marks and detonating them.
Then came the building part. Leveling her up, getting ascension materials… that took some farming. Finding decent Echoes is always a whole thing too, running around hunting specific monsters, hoping for the right stats. Haven’t maxed her out completely yet, it’s a work in progress. Need to get better gear, level up her skills more. But she’s usable now.
Was It Worth It?
So far, yeah, I think she was worth the hassle. She adds something different to my team setups. Fun to play, looks cool. Losing the 50/50 was annoying, drained my resources for whatever comes next, but that’s just the nature of these games. At least I got the character I was aiming for. Now I just need to finish gearing her up properly and see how she really performs in the tougher content.
That’s pretty much my journey getting Yinlin. A mix of waiting, grinding, a bit of disappointment, and finally success. Standard gacha experience, I guess!
