Okay, so I was chilling on the couch today, scrolling through social media as you do, and I saw this headline flash across my feed: “Did Venus Williams Retire?” Whoa, hold up! That’s huge if it’s true, so naturally, I had to dive in.
My Investigation Begins
First things first, I opened up a new browser tab and typed in “Venus Williams retirement” into the good old search bar. You know, gotta get the facts straight from the source, or at least, as close to the source as possible.
The search results popped up, and I started scanning through the headlines and snippets. It was a bit of a mixed bag at first. Some articles were talking about her recent matches, others were speculating about her future, and a few were definitely clickbaity, making it hard to tell what was what.
So, I decided to focus on the more reputable news sites, you know, the ones I usually trust for sports news. I clicked on a couple of articles.
Digging Deeper
I started reading, and it became clear pretty quickly that Venus hasn’t officially retired. Phew! A lot of the articles were talking about how she’s been playing fewer tournaments lately, and how she’s been dealing with some injuries. Totally understandable, she’s not getting any younger, and tennis is a brutal sport on the body.
